countermeasures dispensing system
firing pulse test set

overview

The CMDS Tester™ is a Firing Pulse Interval Test Set; a suite of test components designed to analyze firing pulse timing from a Countermeasures Dispensing System such as the AN/ALE-40 or the AN/ALE-47.

A test scenario is configured by replacing the AN/ALE-47 Countermeasures Magazine with the Pulse Tester unit and connecting it to the Pulse Collector unit using the connectors on the front panel. The CMDS Tester with one Pulse Collector can support up to 16 Pulse Tester units.

The test scenario can be expanded by connecting additional CM-C-16 units via the expansion connector on the front panel. The CMDS Tester's Graphical User Interface(GUI) software provides an easy to use Windows interface for users to control test runs and analyze collected data.

The CMDS Firing Pulse Interval Tester is a scalable suite of test components designed to analyze firing pulse timing from a Counter Measures Dispensing System.

The CMDS Tester provides the required components to measure timing intervals between firing pulses sent to Countermeasures Dispensers.

  • CMDS Pulse Tester (CM-T-47)
  • CMDS Pulse Collector (CM-C-16)
  • CMDS Graphical User Interface (GUI)

CM-T-47 pulse tester

The CMDS Pulse Tester provides the interface to the firing pulses by replacing the dispenser magazines on the aircraft under test.

  • It acts as a dummy load for the system sequencer to simulate dispenser squibs
  • It senses the firing pulse current using a preset threshold value and logs the occurrence to the Collector unit
  • Powered from Collector unit cabling (no batteries)
  • Pulse Width: 150 nsec min (Factory Adjustable)
  • Pulse Repetition Rate: 4.9 kps
  • Pulse Detection Threshold: Factory preset to 3A (Factory Adj. ~1A to 5A)
  • System Compatibility: AN/ALE-40, AN/ALE-47

CM-C-16 pulse collector

The CMDS Pulse Collector unit provides these functions:

  • A central collection point for pulses captured by up to 16 Pulse Testers
  • Timestamps pulses with 1 msec resolution
  • A connection to the software running on the host PC
  • Pulse Logging: 1024 Pulses per test file
  • Baud Rate: 9600
  • Test Support: 16 CMDS Pulse Testers
  • Trigger: 5V TTL compatible output, open collector, active low signal

power requirements CM-C-16

  • Input Voltage 85 -265 Volts AC
  • Frequency Range 47-440 Hz
  • Fuse 2 ea., 2 Amps / 250 V Slow-Blow, 5x20mm
  • Inrush Current (typ) 30A @ 115VAC Input, 60A @ 230VAC Input

CM-ITS interval tester GUI

The CMDS Interval Tester Graphical User Interface program (GUI) provides an interface for the user to control the test runs and analyze collected data.
